Keystone Connect has the most modern equipment available, incorporating the latest technologies with an eye towards reliability and expandability. We also own all of our own equipment, and that equipment is dedicated solely to the Internet services we provide. You'll find that many providers share leased dial-up equipment and servers with other providers to save costs. This means that, although each provider may maintain decent ratios, the equipment itself is crowded with users. Also, other providers may dabble in other areas and frequently use their servers for those functions also, hindering Internet performance. The fact that Keystone Connect owns, operates, and maintains our own equipment means that we can proactively stay ahead of demand and ensure that we have the capacity to continue providing quality services.

Dial-up access calls come into Keystone Connect via all-digital PRI lines and terminate in a 3Com (formerly USRobotics) HiPer Access chassis. This unit is running current x2/v90 code so that x2 and k56Flex users can connect comfortably at a 56k rate. Constant monitoring of our capacity and expansion when necessary has allowed us to remain free of busy signals since Sept of 1999!

Our services are currently hosted on 5 servers. Two of these servers are purpose-built units from MicroOne of Williamsport, PA. These servers run 800mhz  Pentium III CPUs, 256-512mb RAM, multiple 18gb hard drives, and Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server software. Our second line of servers is a pair of Compaq ProLiant 850R rack mounted servers and a single 233mhz tower unit.  Each ProLiant has a Pentium Pro 200mhz processor, 128mb RAM and multiple 4.3gb hard drives. All of our units are the finest servers available and are dedicated only to Internet services. The majority of our servers utilize RAID-5 protection to ensure that no data would be lost in a hard drive failure. A failing hard drive can be replaced without shutting the server down.

Our servers run a mix of Windows 2000 Advanced Server and Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 with the latest Service Pack and hotfixes to increase reliability and security. Our web services are hosted on MS Internet Information Server 4 and IIS 5, recognized as one of the finest web serving platforms available. We also offer FrontPage 2000 extensions and certificate servers for secure transactions and we have the expertise on staff to properly manage these servers. We've maintained over 99.99% uptime with our servers since starting in April of 1998, averaging less than 20 minutes downtime per year. The only downtime we normally experience is due to reboots for system upgrades, and we usually perform these during early morning hours to minimize the inconvenience to our customers.

Our equipment is protected from power surges and other line problems with multiple APC Smart-UPS 1400 units. These units will protect the system from most power abnormalities as well as provide back-up power for short outages.

We currently have 2 T-1 backbone connections. Each T-1 is through a different provider so that problems with a provider won't keep bring our service down. Routing for our dual T-1 lines is handled by a Cisco 2620 Router. BGP4 routing is used to ensure that traffic takes the fastest, most efficient route along the information superhighway.
